About this role

Role Overview

Help develop evaluation tasks for AI systems used in civil rights, environmental, and public advocacy settings, where legal analysis carries significant regulatory and community impact. You will contribute to either or both of two practice tracks: U.S. public interest law, including federal civil rights statutes, NEPA, the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act; and international public interest law, including international human rights law and EU environmental directives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create scenarios covering civil rights litigation, environmental compliance and enforcement, community advocacy, and policy reform.
  • Develop tasks across civil rights and constitutional law, environmental regulation, housing and consumer protection, immigration and asylum, and government accountability.
  • Incorporate legal research platforms, legal-aid and nonprofit case-management systems, and regulatory filing tools such as EPA dockets.
  • Apply constitutional analysis, regulatory compliance review, and impact-litigation strategy to the relevant U.S. or international standards.
  • Produce reference legal briefs, regulatory comments, and advocacy memoranda.
  • Write rubrics that identify senior-level public interest legal judgment rather than generic law-school or bar-exam recall.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a public interest attorney with a legal aid organization, advocacy nonprofit, or government agency, such as a civil liberties organization, environmental advocacy group, legal aid society, or state attorney general''s office.
  • Direct ownership of impact litigation, regulatory advocacy, or policy reform initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of public interest legal tools and of real-world regulatory and legislative advocacy processes.
  • A JD with bar admission, or an international equivalent, is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience authoring rubrics, training materials, or policy work is a plus.

Work Terms

  • Remote, hourly engagement.

Compensation

  • $90 to $100 per hour.

Eligibility

Applicants qualified in the U.S. track, the international track, or both are encouraged to apply.
