Apply advanced physics expertise to evaluate and improve scientific solutions that train next-generation AI systems for a customer in the science and technology sector. This contractor role focuses on technical review, error detection, verification, and clear written feedback to help models learn and reason more reliably. No prior AI experience is required, domain knowledge is the priority.
Key Responsibilities- Critically evaluate physics solutions, mathematical derivations, and theoretical arguments produced by researchers or AI platforms.
- Detect and document errors, unjustified steps, missing assumptions, dimensional inconsistencies, and weaknesses in logic or methodology.
- Delineate substantive scientific issues from stylistic or cosmetic matters, and provide technically precise, actionable written feedback.
- Explain the reasoning behind identified flaws and propose concrete suggestions to sharpen or clarify correct reasoning.
- Independently verify or counter-check scientific claims using LaTeX, SymPy, Python, and Jupyter as appropriate.
- Deliver structured, iteration-friendly feedback designed to support continuous improvement of submitted work.
- PhD in physics and an active record of independent research within a relevant subfield, for example High Energy or Mathematical Physics, Biophysics or Statistical Physics, Condensed Matter, AMO or Quantum Optics, Gravitation or Cosmology, Quantum Information, or Optical Materials.
- Experience as a postdoctoral researcher, research fellow, junior or assistant professor, or senior research scientist.
- Recent representative publications in the relevant subfield, ideally within the last approximately 5 years, with arXiv or DOI links available.
- Advanced proficiency with LaTeX, SymPy, Python, and Jupyter for theoretical modeling and computational validation.
- Proven experience reviewing the work of others, through peer review, supervision, dissertation committees, or group seminars.
- Exceptional written technical communication skills, able to convey nuanced, constructive feedback with technical rigor.
- Required skills explicitly include physics mastery, written technical communication, critical evaluation and error detection, calibrated technical judgment, and verification and cross-checking.
