Role Overview
Apply advanced AMO physics expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through specialized work on atomic and optical properties. This fully remote, part-time independent contractor role values deep domain knowledge, and no prior AI experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert input on atomic, molecular, and optical physics, with emphasis on optical properties of materials.
- Review, analyze, and discuss ab initio configuration interaction methods for calculating polarizability in atomic systems.
- Advise on and critique atomic-structure calculations for ytterbium isotopes Yb-171 and Yb-174.
- Identify and distinguish sigma and pi transitions in relevant atomic spectra, including the underlying physical principles.
- Participate in adaptive spoken AI interviews, answering one question at a time and sharing clear, concrete examples from legally shareable research or projects.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Physics, such as an MS or PhD, or equivalent experience, focused on AMO physics or optical properties of materials.
- Experience with ab initio quantum chemistry calculations, particularly configuration interaction approaches to polarizability.
- Strong knowledge of atomic-structure computation techniques for Yb-171 and Yb-174.
- Ability to identify and explain sigma versus pi transitions in atomic contexts.
- Clear, structured written and verbal scientific communication skills.
