Role Overview
Apply your COBOL and mainframe expertise to help improve next-generation AI systems through accurate, real-world technical input. This remote contract role focuses on analyzing legacy applications, documenting their behavior, and creating high-quality materials that support AI training and evaluation. Prior AI experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, interpret, and advise on existing COBOL codebases for AI training-data creation.
- Document COBOL logic, workflows, and business rules clearly and accurately.
- Evaluate sample code and project scenarios, identifying edge cases, ambiguities, and technical considerations.
- Review and annotate COBOL scripts and pseudocode to support robust machine-learning datasets.
- Develop test cases and scenario outlines that reflect real-world COBOL applications.
- Collaborate with project coordinators and technical specialists through clear written and verbal communication.
- Ensure all submitted materials are technically accurate and complete.
Qualifications
- Deep, demonstrated proficiency in COBOL development across business domains.
- Strong analytical ability to interpret complex legacy systems and explain how they function.
- Ability to produce precise, accessible technical documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity with mainframe environments and related tools.
- Ability to work independently, manage deliverables, and meet project milestones in a remote setting.
- Experience with large-scale migration, integration, or modernization projects is a plus.
Work Terms
- Remote contract engagement.
Compensation
- $90 to $126 per hour.
