About this role

Role Overview

Perform hands-on investment operations and fund accounting exercises using simulated source files, producing analyst-level deliverables that document reconciliations, NAV analyses, trade-break investigations, and corporate action processing. Each work product is evaluated against a grading rubric to ensure accuracy and clear explanation of findings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete self-contained operations exercises derived from mock files, including ledgers, statements, and notices, and produce the analyst deliverable for each assignment, which will be graded against a rubric.
  • Reconcile ledgers to custodian and bank statements, isolate and explain every residual difference, and produce a signed-off reconciliation with adjusting entries.
  • Attribute NAV movements, identify components outside tolerance, and draft clear variance commentary.
  • Investigate trade breaks between systems, determine root cause, classify the break, propose corrective actions, and write the investigation narrative.
  • Process corporate action events, compute entitlements per account, handle payment and transfer exceptions through repair, return, or escalation, and map messy merchant or vendor descriptors to a canonical registry.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in fund administration or investment operations, including fund accounting, reconciliations, corporate actions, trade support or middle office, or payment operations.
  • Experience gained at a fund administrator, custodian, asset manager, or bank operations team.
  • Hands-on experience with reconciliations, NAV processes, trade breaks, corporate actions, or payment and settlement exception handling.
  • Strong Excel skills for analysis and documentation.
Nice to Have
  • Professional credentials such as CPA or IOC.
  • Familiarity with fund-accounting systems such as SS&C, Geneva, Multifonds, or InvestOne.
  • Exposure to SWIFT and settlement systems.
Assessment
  • As part of evaluation, you will complete: a ledger versus custodian reconciliation that must tie out, a NAV variance attribution, and a trade-break root-cause analysis with a written narrative. These deliverables are graded against a rubric.
Work Terms
  • Engagement type: Contract, independent contractor relationship.
  • Hours: Approximately 15 hours per week.
  • Schedule: Remote work, US-based.
  • Compensation structure: Hourly pay.
Compensation

Pay range $75 to $110 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Eligibility and Application
  • Candidates must be located in the United States and able to work remotely as an independent contractor.
  • To apply, submit your resume and be prepared to complete the assessment exercises described above as part of the selection process.
