Head of Communications

Lead micro1''s external communications to shape how the company and its work are understood by media, customers, and the broader AI ecosystem. This strategic role drives public narrative and credibility across product launches, company announcements, executive thought leadership, and media relations to increase visibility and trust for a rapidly scaling AI data lab.

• Own and execute the company external communications and PR strategy, aligned with product and business milestones.
• Develop messaging for product launches, partnerships, company announcements, and executive communications.
• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, creators, analysts, and industry influencers.
• Secure earned media across digital, print, broadcast, podcasts, and social channels.
• Position company leaders through interviews, speaking engagements, bylines, and media opportunities.
• Prepare executives with messaging, briefing materials, and media coaching.
• Manage external PR agencies, communications vendors, and partner relationships.
• Lead crisis and rapid-response communications when needed.

• Significant experience leading communications or PR for high-growth technology companies.
• Exceptional writing, storytelling, and verbal communication skills.
• Proven success securing top-tier media coverage and building lasting press relationships.
• Experience leading communications for product launches and major company announcements.
• Strong strategic judgment, with an ability to translate complex technical topics into clear, compelling narratives.
• Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Required skills, as listed: PR, vendor management, partnerships, communications strategy.
• Preferred experience in AI, developer tools, enterprise software, or B2B SaaS.
• Familiarity with AI and emerging technologies, experience working with distributed teams, and crisis communications experience are preferred.

• Employment type: Full-time, on-site in San Francisco.
• Role is a core team position based in the company office in San Francisco.

• Listed compensation range for this role: $250, 000 to $400, 000 per year.
• Company pay range notice: national base salary range of $150, 000 to $200, 000 for this full-time position.
• All employees are eligible for equity compensation. Employees may also receive performance-based bonuses, dependent on role and subject to company policies.
