Fire Dispatcher, Emergency Communications Specialist

Role Overview

Apply your emergency dispatch expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through high-quality, real-world operational input. This remote contract opportunity focuses on how emergency requests are prioritized, routed, documented, and communicated in high-pressure fire dispatch environments. No prior AI experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and assess simulated or real-time emergency requests, determine urgency, and assign appropriate resources using established protocols.
• Prioritize incoming information across radio, phone, and digital communication channels to support timely, accurate routing.
• Use standardized dispatch scripts and checklists to maintain procedural consistency and alignment with best practices.
• Document scenario responses and communication flows clearly and in a structured format for AI learning.
• Evaluate AI-generated protocols and automated responses, identify issues, and recommend improvements.
• Provide concise feedback on the effectiveness and clarity of AI-generated communications.
• Work with project coordinators to ensure deliverables meet quality and operational standards.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a fire dispatcher, emergency communications specialist, or in an equivalent role.
• Demonstrated ability to triage and prioritize requests rapidly and accurately under pressure.
• Strong multitasking skills across simultaneous radio, phone, and digital communications.
• Proficiency applying, following, and interpreting standardized emergency protocols and checklists, including APCO/NENA certification.
• Clear, concise, professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with emergency dispatch workflows and their unique operational challenges.
• Experience supporting the training, evaluation, or improvement of operational procedures is a plus.

Work Terms

• Remote contract engagement.

Compensation

• $30 to $55 per hour.
