About this role

Role Overview

Bring real-world civil engineering expertise to a small, growing network of industry specialists who evaluate and improve how AI systems understand and reason about civil engineering topics. You will review technical content for accuracy, answer domain questions with professional judgment, and advise on real engineering practices, tools, workflows, and standards. This is a flexible, part-time, fully remote role with the potential to continue and expand over time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and evaluate written content and AI-generated responses in civil engineering for technical accuracy and quality.
  • Answer domain-specific questions and provide clear, well-reasoned feedback based on professional experience.
  • Identify and recommend useful reference materials relevant to civil engineering tasks.
  • Explain practical workflows, tools, and standards used by civil engineers in practice.
  • Collaborate with a small group of subject-matter experts across related disciplines.
Qualifications
  • Degree-qualified civil engineer holding a Professional Engineer, PE, license in the United States.
  • At least 2 years of professional civil engineering experience, ideally spanning more than one area such as structural, geotechnical, transportation, or water resources.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, for example ASCE, IBC, and AASHTO.
  • Experience with common engineering software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, STAAD, Revit, or similar tools.
  • Experience writing technical specifications, design reports, or training materials is a plus.
  • Comfort using everyday AI tools, for example ChatGPT or similar, and applying judgment to AI outputs.
Work Terms
  • Engagement type, hourly employment with W-2 status through Cincinnatus LLC as employer of record.
  • Approximately 10 hours per week, flexible scheduling, fully remote.
  • Opportunity to continue and grow the engagement over time, subject to ongoing needs.
  • Cincinnatus LLC will provide payroll, benefits administration, and employment compliance while placing employees within client teams.
Compensation
  • $65.00 to $90.00 per hour.
Eligibility
  • Must be based in the United States.
  • Must hold a valid US Professional Engineer, PE, license.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
  • Able to commit reliably to about 10 hours per week.
