Role Overview
Apply deep nuclear and radiological security expertise to help train advanced AI systems through rigorous, real-world technical guidance. You will help define standards for safety evaluations, information abstraction, and escalation protocols that support legitimate scientific progress while protecting national and global security interests.
Key Responsibilities
- Define evaluation scope and standards for nuclear and radiological safety, nonproliferation, and security.
- Create frameworks for safely abstracting sensitive or classified information in technical contexts.
- Establish escalation thresholds and protocols for nuclear security risks in research and operational settings.
- Provide guidance for benchmarking nuclear and radiological risk assessments and nonproliferation safeguards.
- Review, refine, and validate technical safety guidelines used to support advanced-model training.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders on standards that balance security requirements with scientific progress.
- Document information-security and compliance best practices, including decision rationales for nuclear-domain work.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in nuclear physics, radiological safety, nonproliferation, or nuclear safeguards. Senior contributors will ideally bring 8 to 20 years of experience.
- Advanced degree, professional certification, or equivalent operational experience in a nuclear or radiological field.
- Experience with government agencies, national laboratories, regulatory bodies, or academic research related to nuclear security or policy.
- Strong knowledge of nonproliferation frameworks, international safeguards, and weapons-relevant controls.
- Credibility and recognition within nuclear or radiological safety communities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical subjects to varied audiences.
- Experience contributing to or overseeing security evaluations, compliance protocols, or risk assessments in sensitive technical environments.
Work Terms
- Remote contract engagement.
- No prior AI experience is required. Domain expertise is the central qualification.
Compensation
$50 to $90 per hour.
