About this role

Build and stress-test real software that brings frontier generative AI models into practical use. In this full-stack engineering role, you will work on fast-moving projects with an AI lab''s engineering manager, contributing working code early while helping advance foundational large language models.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and ship full-stack applications, services, and internal tools using Python, Java, Rust, C#, C++, or TypeScript to exercise model capabilities end to end.
  • Integrate pre-release model APIs into functional software, including tool interfaces, evaluation harnesses, and telemetry.
  • Diagnose and document model and integration failures, translating engineering observations into clear feedback for research teams.
  • Prototype quickly as requirements evolve, delivering working increments with limited upfront specification.
  • Collaborate with the engineering manager and other engineers on code quality, architecture, and technical documentation.
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of professional experience building and shipping production software at a recognized, top-tier organization.
  • Production experience in at least one of Python, Java, Rust, C#, or C++, plus working proficiency in a second language.
  • Hands-on experience with backend services and APIs, a modern front-end framework such as React, relational or document databases, and cloud deployment.
  • A demonstrated ability to quickly onboard to unfamiliar codebases and deliver working code with minimal ramp-up.
  • Demonstrable career progression, strong written communication, and the ability to clearly explain complex technical decisions.
Work Terms
  • Full-time W-2 employment, with placement on an AI lab team as part of its extended workforce.
  • Reliable weekday availability of at least 40 hours per week is required.
  • The engineering cohort is intentionally staffed across multiple programming-language ecosystems.
  • Successful candidates will work directly with the engineering manager, onboard quickly, and begin contributing working code early in the engagement.
Compensation

$50 to $65 per hour.
