Product Designer, Analytical Writing & Design Reasoning

Apply product design expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through clear, high-quality written analysis of design decisions, rationale, and trade-offs. This remote contract role is focused on design reasoning and analytical writing rather than producing visual design deliverables.

• Write structured analyses that explain product design decisions, rationale, and user impact.
• Evaluate and critique product and design information, clearly describing trade-offs, constraints, and business context.
• Draft, review, and refine design documentation, specifications, and case studies centered on design process and reasoning.
• Translate complex design concepts and frameworks into accessible language for AI model training.
• Compare design solutions and identify decision points and implications for users and stakeholders.
• Collaborate asynchronously with project stakeholders to clarify requirements and align on deliverables.

• 3+ years of end-to-end product design experience, ideally across web or mobile products.
• Experience with product design, design strategy, prototyping in Figma, design rationale, and trade-off analysis.
• A record of creating design documents, specifications, critiques, or detailed case studies.
• Excellent analytical writing skills and the ability to synthesize and communicate information effectively.
• Strong critical-thinking skills in ambiguous or evolving contexts.
• Professional-level written English. Experience writing for non-technical audiences is beneficial.
• Experience with leading universities or renowned organizations is a plus.

• Remote contract engagement.

• $90 to $140 per hour.
