UI / Visual Designer, Design Systems & Written Rationale

Shape training input for next-generation AI systems by applying UI and visual design expertise to a writing-intensive design project. You will evaluate interfaces, create design artifacts, and clearly explain the reasoning behind your recommendations.

• Critically evaluate user interfaces, identifying strengths and weaknesses in visual and interaction design.
• Write structured, well-reasoned rationales that document design decisions, analysis, and recommendations.
• Develop and communicate design-system principles, patterns, and guidelines.
• Review, refine, and document component libraries for clarity, consistency, and accessibility.
• Create visually engaging Figma mockups using sound practices in color, typography, spacing, and responsive design.
• Produce comprehensive design documentation for diverse audiences.
• Address accessibility standards and usability in both visual design and supporting documentation.

• At least 3 years of experience in UI, visual, or product design, supported by a strong portfolio of digital work.
• Expertise in UI design, typography, color theory, visual hierarchy, layout, and responsive design.
• Proficiency in Figma, design systems, and component libraries.
• Experience documenting design systems or writing component guidelines with detailed, persuasive rationales.
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain complex design choices clearly and analytically.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards, including WCAG, and their practical application in interface design.
• Advanced English writing skills are essential. A background with leading universities or highly regarded organizations is valued.

• Remote contract engagement.
• No prior AI experience is required.

• $90 to $140 per hour.
