About this role

Apply your microbiology expertise to improve next-generation AI systems through accurate, real-world scientific analysis. This remote contractor role turns your knowledge of microorganisms, disease, and laboratory processes into high-quality training data and evaluations. No previous AI experience is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate the development, morphology, and behavior of microscopic organisms, including bacteria, fungi, and algae.
  • Contribute medical microbiology expertise on relationships between microorganisms and disease.
  • Assess how antibiotics and other agents affect microbial populations to support AI model accuracy.
  • Document experimental findings and processes clearly for AI training data.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to maintain scientific rigor and data integrity.
  • Provide written and verbal guidance on microbiological phenomena in real-world and computational contexts.
  • Use established rubrics and evaluation criteria to assess data quality and support AI training workflows.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor''s degree or higher in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of bacterial, fungal, and algal systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise investigating microbial structure and physiology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to document processes and findings clearly for integration into AI systems.
  • Comfort working independently in a fully remote, digital-first environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to scientific accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing or applying rubrics in scientific or educational settings.
  • Experience with AI, machine learning, or biology- or microbiology-related annotation projects.
  • Master''s degree or PhD in a relevant field.
Work Terms
  • Remote independent contractor engagement.
Compensation
  • $70 to $90 per hour.
