Mechanical Design Engineer for AI Model Training

Provide advanced mechanical design and CAD expertise to a customer-facing engineering project that is being used to train and improve next-generation AI systems. You will deliver concrete, real-world mechanical engineering input, critique CAD models and drawings, and translate engineering reasoning into clear written and verbal guidance. No prior AI experience is required, your domain knowledge is the primary qualification.
Key Responsibilities- Create and review detailed component and assembly models using advanced CAD tools.
- Evaluate engineering drawings for accuracy, manufacturability, and adherence to GD&T standards.
- Perform tolerance analysis and recommend design for manufacturability practices.
- Provide engineering mechanics, tribology, and geometric modeling insights relevant to real-world applications.
- Review and improve graphical and geometric representations of mechanical assemblies and systems.
- Offer practical manufacturing engineering guidance and help simulate realistic design scenarios.
- Produce clear written and verbal explanations of mechanical engineering concepts to inform model training and evaluation.
- Required skills: Mechanical design, CAD.
- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is preferred.
- Substantial production design experience, including hands-on use of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DFM principles.
- Proficiency with industry CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX, with demonstrated 3D modeling expertise.
- Strong understanding of tribology, engineering mechanics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Experience in manufacturing engineering and knowledge of end-to-end product development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical concepts and feedback clearly.
- CSWP or CSWE certification is a plus.
