Intellectual Property Attorney or Patent Agent for AI Evaluation

Help create rigorous evaluation tasks for AI systems working in patent prosecution, licensing, and intellectual property enforcement. The work reflects the technical complexity, commercial stakes, and procedural scope of major patent portfolios, licensing programs, and IP litigation.

Projects may focus on a U.S. standards track, including 35 U.S.C., the MPEP, and USPTO procedure, or an international track covering the European Patent Convention, PCT, and WIPO treaties.

• Design IP scenarios involving patent prosecution and portfolio strategy, trademark and copyright disputes, licensing, technology transfer, and freedom-to-operate analysis.
• Create tasks across patent prosecution, IP litigation and enforcement, trademark and copyright practice, licensing, and technology transfer.
• Develop scenarios using patent-search tools such as PatSnap, Innography, and USPTO PatFT; docketing and portfolio-management systems such as Anaqua and CPA Global; and claim-charting tools used in major IP practices.
• Apply patentability analysis, claim construction, and freedom-to-operate review under the applicable standards track, including U.S. law and Federal Circuit precedent or EPC, PCT, and WIPO treaty frameworks.
• Produce reference patent applications, office action responses, licensing agreements, and litigation memoranda.
• Write rubrics that assess senior-level IP judgment rather than generic law-school or bar-exam recall.

• At least 5 years of experience as an IP attorney or patent agent at a major IP firm or corporate IP department, such as Fish & Richardson, Finnegan, Wilson Sonsini, or in-house counsel at a technology or pharmaceutical company.
• Direct responsibility for patent prosecution portfolios, licensing negotiations, or IP litigation matters.
• Fluency with IP tools and methodologies, plus practical knowledge of USPTO and EPO procedure and international treaty systems.
• A JD with bar admission and USPTO patent bar registration, or an international equivalent such as European Patent Attorney, is strongly preferred.
• A technical or STEM background and prior rubric or training authorship are beneficial.

• Remote, hourly engagement.

$90 to $100 per hour.
