Role Overview
Provide domain expertise in chemical safety, toxicology, and nonproliferation to strengthen chemical safety evaluation frameworks used to train and evaluate next-generation AI systems. This remote contractor role supports a client project by supplying high-quality, real-world technical judgment and feedback that guides how models learn, reason, and perform. No prior AI experience is required.
Key Responsibilities- Apply subject-matter expertise to help train and evaluate AI systems on chemical safety and toxicology topics.
- Analyze and evaluate data related to chemical safety, toxicological risk, precursor chemicals, and hazardous-substance scenarios.
- Review, annotate, and provide critical feedback on documents, datasets, and model outputs involving chemical weapons, toxicology, and hazardous materials.
- Contribute expert perspectives on nonproliferation standards, regulatory protocols, and safe operations for chemical handling and risk mitigation.
- Develop and refine guidelines for assessing chemical and toxicological hazards in realistic and hypothetical situations.
- Interpret and explain implications of chemical interactions, exposure risks, and toxicity profiles for AI training and evaluation purposes.
- Collaborate remotely with project coordinators, offering written and verbal clarifications or additional context as needed.
- Identify gaps or inaccuracies in content or model assessments related to chemical safety and toxicology.
- Required domain skills: Chemistry, Chemical Weapons, Toxicology, Hazardous Substances.
- Advanced degree preferred, such as PhD, MD, JD, PsyD, or a relevant masters degree in chemistry, toxicology, industrial hygiene, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of specialized experience in areas such as chemical weapons nonproliferation, hazardous materials handling, toxicological risk assessment, or chemical safety protocols.
- Experience working as an independent consultant, policy advisor, response specialist, or safety officer in industry, government, or research settings.
- Expertise in controlled substances, precursor risk evaluation, or nonproliferation regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information clearly in both written and verbal formats.
- Familiarity with standards for chemical safety, hazardous material management, or toxicology operations in high-stakes environments.
- Interest in applying domain expertise to improve AI systems and evaluations.
