Bilingual Dutch PhD Scientist for AI Safety

Use your PhD-level scientific expertise to help improve the safety of advanced AI systems handling specialized technical topics in Dutch as spoken in the Netherlands. You will assess and strengthen model interactions involving scientific content, including sensitive and dual-use subject matter. Prior AI or machine learning experience is not required, and training will be provided for the workflow.

• Create expert-level prompts in Netherlands Dutch across specialized scientific subjects.
• Evaluate and annotate model responses for scientific accuracy, helpfulness, and appropriate treatment of sensitive content.
• Apply structured guidelines to classify prompts and conversations.
• Use scientific judgment to help improve how AI models handle technical Dutch-language content safely and effectively.

• PhD in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field, either in progress or completed.
• Ability to develop prompts spanning chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear subject areas.
• Native or near-native fluency in Dutch as spoken in the Netherlands, plus business-level written English.
• Deep familiarity with current laboratory and computational techniques in your specialty.
• Sound judgment regarding scientific safety and responsible handling of dual-use information.

• Chemistry-based experience relevant to radiological and nuclear topics, such as radiochemistry, nuclear chemistry, energetic materials, or radiation physics.
• Demonstrated depth in a specific specialty, such as organic or inorganic synthesis, molecular biology, microbiology, virology, or genetics.
• Research or coursework in chemical safety and security, biosafety and biosecurity, or hazardous-materials handling.
• Experience reviewing, grading, or red-teaming technical content.

• Hourly engagement based in the Netherlands.
• Immediate start date.

• 61 to 65 per hour.

• You must currently be based in the Netherlands. This position specifically covers the Netherlands variety of Dutch; Belgian Dutch is covered separately.
