About this role

Role Overview

Create and validate rigorous academic mathematics assessments that support AI research benchmarks. This role focuses on producing challenging, high-quality multiple-choice questions and verifying existing content across advanced applied mathematics domains.

Mathematics Domains

Signal Processing; Financial Mathematics and Actuarial Science; Mathematical Economics; Mathematical Modeling of Ecological and Biological Systems; Mathematical Programming and Combinatorial Optimization; Geomathematics and Climate Modeling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work in either question authoring or question verification.
  • For authoring assignments, develop original, challenging multiple-choice questions within your mathematical specialty, assign a difficulty rating, and submit them for review.
  • For verification assignments, assess pre-written questions for accuracy, clarity, rigor, completeness, precision, and solvability; revise them as needed and document the rationale for each change.
  • Design questions that assess deep conceptual understanding rather than surface-level recall.
  • Ensure every question is unambiguous, self-contained, and includes all information needed to solve it.
  • Rate questions as Medium, introductory undergraduate; Hard, advanced undergraduate; or Expert, postgraduate and above.
  • Provide one correct answer and nine plausible, subtly incorrect answer choices suitable for expert-level solvers.
  • Write clear, concise step-by-step solutions with intermediate reasoning in Markdown format.
  • Include one to five academic references per question from reputable sources, such as peer-reviewed journals or university repositories.
Qualifications
  • PhD or doctoral candidacy in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline.
  • A master''s degree may be considered for candidates with exceptional depth in a specific subdomain.
  • Strong knowledge of graduate-level mathematical concepts and formal proof writing.
  • Experience designing rigorous academic problems or writing mathematical competition questions is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent written English and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and concisely.
Work Terms
  • Fully remote, asynchronous hourly work.
  • Expected commitment of at least 10 hours per week.
Compensation

$61 to $77 per hour.
