Retail Store Manager for AI Training

Store Operation Managers apply hands-on retail management and operations experience to evaluate AI-generated content, create expert-level training data, and give feedback that improves AI understanding of store workflows and practices. This is a contract, project-based role that can be performed remotely alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or industry employment.

• Use daily, practical experience with store operations to assess the accuracy and relevance of AI-generated responses.
• Document real-world store procedures and workflows to create expert training examples for AI systems.
• Evaluate and provide detailed feedback on AI outputs related to store performance reporting, inventory management, and cash reconciliation.
• Communicate findings clearly in writing so research teams can incorporate corrections and improvements.

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in retail store management or equivalent roles, such as Store Manager, District Manager, or Retail Operations Manager.
• Direct, hands-on experience with store management tasks, including store performance reporting, cash reconciliation, and inventory reconciliation.
• Strong written communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with remote research teams.
• No prior AI experience required; practical retail expertise is the core qualification.

• Engagement type: part-time, hourly contract work; this is not a traditional full-time employment role.
• Fully remote, flexible and asynchronous schedule with no minimum hours required.
• Typical contributor involvement when active on a project is approximately 5 to 20 hours per week.
• Placement on projects depends on current project needs; participation in one project does not guarantee immediate placement on others, but contributors may be considered for future projects as they become available.

Up to $80/hr (depending on the project)

• F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate. Consult your Designated School Official to determine whether this type of contract work meets your school requirements.
• If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course for authorization, this project-based contract may not satisfy that requirement.
• STEM OPT is not supported for these projects.
• Refer to the program help resources or your school official for full details on acceptable work authorizations.

• Complete identity verification as required by the project intake process.
• Enroll in and complete onboarding for relevant projects to confirm fit and access assignments.
• Begin performing tasks on active projects and receive payment according to the contract terms.
