About this role

Role Overview

Store managers apply their operational and leadership experience to evaluate AI-generated content and create expert training data that reflects real-world retail store management practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use hands-on knowledge of store operations to assess AI-produced responses for accuracy and relevance to retail workflows.
  • Provide detailed feedback on AI outputs related to store performance reporting, cash handling, inventory reconciliation, and other day-to-day management tasks.
  • Create example scenarios, annotatations, and training inputs that reflect realistic retail situations and decision making.
  • Document discrepancies between AI suggestions and established store procedures, and recommend corrections or clarifications.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in retail store management roles, such as Store Manager or District Manager, or equivalent positions in retail.
  • Practical, hands-on experience with store performance reporting, cash and inventory reconciliation, and common store management tools and workflows.
  • Strong written communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in an asynchronous research environment.
  • No prior AI or machine learning experience required.
Work Terms
  • Engagement type, hourly contract work, structured as part-time, remote projects rather than a traditional full-time job.
  • Flexible, asynchronous schedule with no minimum hourly commitment; contributors typically work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
  • Ongoing, project-based participation, suitable to do alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or industry employment.
  • Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs, and contributors may be considered for additional projects as they become available.
Compensation

Up to $80/hr (depending on the project)

Eligibility
  • F-1 students who qualify for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate. Consult your Designated School Official to confirm eligibility for this type of contract work.
  • If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course for off-campus employment, these projects may not satisfy that requirement. STEM OPT participation is not supported.
