Radiological Emergency Response Specialist for AI Red-Teaming

Role Overview

Help evaluate how advanced AI systems handle radiological safety questions, ensuring they provide useful answers to legitimate technical requests while appropriately declining requests with genuine misuse potential. This writing-intensive, per-task remote role draws on real-world radiological emergency expertise to develop and assess challenging safety scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

• Create single-turn radiological safety prompts classified as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.
• Assess model responses against an established policy standard and determine whether each response was handled correctly.
• Write reference responses that demonstrate the appropriate answer and explain the technical reasoning behind the judgment.
• Apply professional judgment to distinguish routine questions, such as dose, shielding, isotope, dispersal, or protective-action topics, from requests that may indicate misuse.

Qualifications

• Professional experience planning for or responding to radiological events, with responsibility for consequences, contamination, or protective actions.
• Relevant backgrounds may include radiological emergency planning at licensed facilities or state or national levels, including plans, drills, and exercises.
• Experience in field response and monitoring, including FRMAC, RAP, CBRN, or national radiological response teams.
• Experience with consequence and dispersal modeling, including plume and deposition estimates, dose projections, and protective-action decisions.
• Experience with incident command or response coordination for radiological events or full-scale exercises.
• Experience in medical or public-health radiological response, including triage, countermeasures, or population monitoring.
• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical judgments clearly to non-specialists. Technical writing, published research, expert witness experience, and prior red-teaming experience are valued.

Work Terms

• Remote, per-task independent contractor engagement.
• The work involves sustained reading and writing about misuse scenarios in radiological safety. Experts receive advance briefing and may pause or step away at any time without penalty.

Compensation

Compensation is $65 to $75 per task.
