Forensic / Toxicological Chemist for AI Model Red-Teaming

Role Overview

Help evaluate how advanced AI systems handle sensitive chemistry and chemical-safety questions. You will use practical forensic and toxicological expertise to distinguish legitimate technical requests from requests with genuine misuse potential, ensuring models remain useful for routine professional work while responding appropriately to dangerous scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

• Create challenging single-turn prompts from your domain and classify them as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.
• Assess model responses against an established policy standard and determine whether each response was handled correctly.
• Develop reference answers that show the appropriate response and explain the underlying technical reasoning.
• Apply casework judgment to scenarios involving substance and precursor identification, clandestine routes, toxicology, and chemical misuse risk.
• Provide clear written rationales that non-specialists can understand.

Qualifications

• Experience with chemical casework, including identifying substances and precursors and defending conclusions in reports or testimony.
• Relevant backgrounds may include controlled-substance laboratory casework involving identification and quantitation; clandestine laboratory response, precursor identification, or scene chemistry; forensic toxicology involving postmortem or human-performance cases; seized-drug or precursor trend monitoring and intelligence analysis; or expert testimony and chemical casework report writing.
• Red-teaming experience is preferred.
• Strong technical writing ability. Published research, prior technical writing, or expert witness experience is valuable; include a writing sample or link with your application.
• Comfort reading and writing about misuse scenarios in your field for sustained periods. You will receive advance briefing and may pause or step away at any time without penalty.

Work Terms

• Remote, per-task independent contractor engagement.

Compensation

• 65 to 75 per task.
