Bomb Technician for AI Red-Teaming

Role Overview

Help evaluate how advanced AI systems handle sensitive technical questions involving energetic materials, propulsion, hazardous devices, and public-safety response. You will create realistic scenarios that distinguish legitimate professional inquiries from requests that could enable harm, helping ensure models provide appropriate assistance while recognizing when to refuse unsafe content.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop challenging, single-turn prompts in your area of expertise and classify them as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.
• Assess AI responses against a defined policy standard and determine whether each response was handled correctly.
• Create reference answers that demonstrate the appropriate response and explain the underlying technical reasoning.
• Apply professional judgment to distinguish routine storage, compatibility, render-safe, or other operational questions from requests intended to extract dangerous information.
• Document every evaluation with a clear written rationale that non-specialists can understand.

Qualifications

• Professional experience assessing real hazardous devices, particularly in render-safe or post-incident contexts under certification and command accountability.
• Relevant backgrounds may include certified bomb technician or hazardous device operator; military EOD experience combined with civilian public-safety, training, or instructional experience; bomb squad commander or training officer; post-blast investigator or device reconstruction specialist; or CBRNE technical responder with experience in standoff assessment, robotics, or disruption tools.
• Red-teaming experience is preferred.
• Strong technical writing ability. Published research, prior technical writing, or expert-witness experience is valuable; include a writing sample or link with your application.
• Comfort reading and writing about misuse scenarios in this field for sustained periods.

Work Terms

• Remote, per-task independent contractor engagement.
• You will be briefed in advance about the nature of misuse-related scenarios and may pause or step away at any time without penalty.

Compensation

• $65 to $75 per task.
