Merchandising and Category Management Professional for AI Evaluation

Merchandising & Category Management Specialists apply hands-on merchandising and category management expertise to evaluate AI-generated content, create expert-level training data, and provide actionable feedback that improves AI understanding of pricing, markdowns, promotions, and competitive analysis. This is remote, hourly contract work that can be done alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or industry employment. No prior AI experience is required.

• Use professional experience with pricing strategy, markdown planning, and competitive analysis to assess AI-generated responses for accuracy and relevance.
• Create expert-level training data informed by the tools and workflows you use in daily merchandising and category work.
• Provide clear, written feedback that helps refine how AI models handle merchandising tasks and decisions.
• Apply domain knowledge to scenarios including tariff and competitive pricing analysis, markdown optimization and hindsight analysis, and promotional campaign planning.
• Work independently and asynchronously with research teams, meeting project-specific instructions and quality standards.

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in merchandising, category management, or buying in roles such as Merchandiser, Merchandise Planner, Category Manager, Buyer, or equivalent retail industry positions.
• Hands-on experience with merchandising and category management workflows, including pricing strategy, markdown optimization, and promotional planning.
• Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and asynchronously with remote teams.
• No prior AI experience required.

• Engagement type: part-time, hourly contract work, not a traditional employment relationship.
• Location: fully remote.
• Schedule: flexible, asynchronous. There is no minimum hour requirement; contributors typically work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
• This is an ongoing, project-based engagement. Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs, and contributors may be considered for future projects as they become available.

• Up to $80/hr (depending on the project)

• F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate in these projects. Work with your Designated School Official to confirm your eligibility.
• If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, these projects may not satisfy that requirement.
• STEM OPT is not supported for these projects.
