About this role
Merchandise planners can apply their retail planning expertise to evaluate AI-generated content and improve how AI understands merchandising workflows, inventory decisions, and promotional strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Use hands-on merchandise planning, inventory optimization, and promotional strategy experience to create expert-level training data.
- Evaluate AI-generated responses for accuracy and relevance to retail merchandising practices.
- Provide detailed feedback informed by the tools and workflows used in daily professional practice.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in retail merchandising or merchandise planning, including roles such as Merchandise Planner, Senior Merchandise Planner, or an equivalent retail industry role.
- Hands-on experience with demand forecasting, in-season reforecasting, markdown optimization, hindsight analysis, and promotional campaign planning.
- Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with AI research teams.
- No prior AI experience is required.
- Part-time, independent contractor engagement performed fully remotely.
- Flexible, asynchronous schedule with no minimum hour requirement.
- Contributors typically work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week while assigned to an active project.
- This ongoing, project-based work may be performed alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or industry employment.
- Project placement depends on current needs; qualified applicants may be considered for future projects as they become available.
Up to $80/hr (depending on the project).
Eligibility- F-1 students eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible for projects. Consult your Designated School Official to confirm eligibility.
- If your school requires a CPT course, this work may not satisfy the school’s requirements.
- STEM OPT is not supported.
