About this role

Role Overview

Apply senior legal judgment to improve how advanced AI models handle real legal work. You will work closely with an AI research and program management team, translating professional legal standards into high quality tasks, model guidance, and evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review legal knowledge work tasks and model outputs, identifying missing behaviors, weak reasoning, and answers that would not withstand professional scrutiny.
  • Write instruction specifications and model solutions that define correct approaches to legal problems.
  • Create legal tasks, challenging benchmarks, and evaluation sets grounded in real practice.
  • Help develop legal specific skills and tools with the research team.
  • Collaborate with researchers and adjacent subject matter specialists to calibrate standards and turn tacit legal judgment into clear, teachable criteria.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. Graduation from a highly ranked law school is strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of substantive post qualification legal practice at an established law firm, corporate legal department, regulatory body, or court. Internships and clerkships alone do not qualify.
  • Specialization in at least one substantive practice area, such as corporate and transactional law, litigation and dispute resolution, regulatory and compliance, intellectual property, employment and labor, or tax.
  • Demonstrated progression to a senior role, such as partner, of counsel, counsel, senior associate, senior in house counsel, or general counsel, with ownership of legal matters.
  • Active admission in good standing to at least one U.S. state bar.
  • Practical experience using large language models in professional work and the judgment to distinguish sound legal reasoning from plausible but incorrect output.
  • Excellent written communication and the ability to provide precise, structured feedback.

Work Terms

  • Full time, hourly W-2 employment, with a reliable commitment of 40 hours per week for an initial 6 month engagement.
  • Hybrid role based in the Bay Area, California. You must live in the Bay Area and be able to work on site with the client team multiple days per week when required.
  • This is not a remote position. Candidates outside the Bay Area must relocate at their own expense before the engagement begins. Relocation assistance is not available.
  • You will receive client issued accounts and equipment and work in the client’s tools alongside its research teams.

Compensation

$60 to $100 per hour.
