Role Overview
Build and maintain backend services in Go while testing and evaluating alpha-stage AI coding models. This part-time, remote contract role combines hands-on Go development with structured model evaluation, bug reporting, and real-time collaboration to improve next-generation AI coding tools.
Key Responsibilities- Implement REST and GraphQL endpoints using a modern Go stack
- Perform rigorous data validation and implement comprehensive error handling
- Run database migrations and apply performance optimizations
- Test and evaluate alpha AI models in Cursor during multiple 4-day bursts, each with 5+ hours of work per day
- Detect, document, and report incidents, bugs, and edge cases, including bug traces and annotated screenshots
- Provide real-time feedback and technical insights to the research team via Slack
- Complete structured surveys capturing overall impressions and model usability after each testing burst
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Golang developer
- Strong expertise in Go, building REST APIs, GraphQL, and backend development best practices
- Experience with AI-powered coding tools; familiarity with Cursor is preferred
- Proven skills in data validation, robust error handling, and complex debugging
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to document findings clearly and thoroughly
- Enthusiasm for hands-on coding, rapid prototyping, and technical exploration
- Preferred: public open-source contributions (for example, notable GitHub repositories), prior technical product evaluation or developer tool QA experience, and a willingness to mentor and share insights
- Engagement type: Contract, independent contractor relationship
- Location: Remote
- Schedule: Part-time, with required participation in multiple focused testing bursts of 4 days each, at 5 or more hours per day
- Collaboration tools: real-time communication via Slack and structured post-burst surveys
- Pay rate: $30.00 to $90.00 per hour
- Must be able to work on highly confidential, alpha-stage projects and refrain from sharing confidential information
- Must meet the stated experience and technical skill requirements, and be available for the burst-style testing schedule
