Role Overview
Apply your backend engineering expertise to help improve next-generation AI systems through real-world development work, structured testing, and actionable feedback. No previous AI experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize scalable REST and GraphQL API endpoints.
- Implement strong data validation, error handling, and security practices across backend services.
- Plan and perform database migrations, performance optimizations, and schema updates.
- Test AI-powered models in Cursor and document findings with incident reports, bug traces, and screenshots.
- Take part in intensive four-day testing bursts that examine the effect of AI models on real coding workflows.
- Discuss findings and proposed improvements with the research team through a dedicated Slack channel.
- Complete detailed post-testing surveys on model performance and developer experience.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of professional backend development experience with strong Python expertise.
- Experience building and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
- Advanced knowledge of backend validation, error handling, and API security.
- Hands-on experience with database migrations, schema design, and performance tuning.
- Extensive experience using AI coding tools. Familiarity with Cursor is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear incident and bug reporting.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, confidential, collaborative remote environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Public open-source contributions, such as GitHub contributions or stars.
- Experience designing or evaluating experimental tools and developer workflows.
- Interest in advances in AI-assisted software development.
Work Terms
- Remote contract engagement.
Compensation
- $50 to $100 per hour.
