About this role

Role Overview

Build and field applied AI systems for high-impact U.S. Government missions, taking solutions from early prototypes through production deployment in high-assurance, mission-critical environments. This full-lifecycle role combines model experimentation, infrastructure, partner collaboration, and operational deployment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and deploy agentic AI systems that support U.S. Government missions from prototype through production.
  • Design and integrate LLM applications, including multi-agent systems, tool-using agents, RAG workflows, and human-in-the-loop autonomy.
  • Work directly with government partners in forward-deployed settings to translate mission needs into technical systems.
  • Build and maintain large-scale data curation and evaluation pipelines for model training and improvement.
  • Develop infrastructure for model inference, experimentation, evaluation, and deployment across frontier AI platforms.
  • Create AI systems that combine mission data, models, and tools into operational autonomy.
  • Own the full system lifecycle, including discovery, architecture, implementation, deployment, reliability, security, and iteration.
Qualifications
  • Strong Python engineering skills with experience owning systems end to end.
  • Experience building LLM and agentic systems.
  • Experience building or maintaining data pipelines and ML infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with reinforcement learning workflows or simulation environments.
  • Ability to work independently in ambiguous, partner-facing environments while maintaining technical and operational ownership.
  • Comfort working in high-security, high-reliability environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting U.S. Government, defense, intelligence, or national-security missions.
  • Prior work at a startup, defense organization, Department of War, or government-focused technology company.
  • Experience in fast-moving startup environments, mission-critical government settings, or both.
Work Terms
  • Full-time remote role requiring relocation to the Washington, DC area.
Compensation
  • Listed annual compensation: $300, 000 to $500, 000.
  • National base-salary range: $150, 000 to $250, 000 annually.
  • Eligible for equity compensation and role-dependent, policy-based performance bonuses.
  • Benefits include up to 100% reimbursement of health-insurance premiums, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with company match, and additional benefits for a remote-first workforce.
Eligibility
  • Active U.S. security clearance preferred, or eligibility and willingness to obtain one.
  • Qualified applicants are considered without regard to protected characteristics under applicable law.
