Engineering Simulation Specialist

Role Overview

Develop rigorous engineering simulation challenges that evaluate whether advanced AI systems can solve domain-specific design problems from first principles. You will create tasks involving artifacts such as controller gains, circuit parameters, or mechanical geometry, then assess whether proposed designs satisfy defined technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Build simulations and specification sheets for engineering design challenges.
• Define quantitative, pass/fail acceptance thresholds and prompts for each task.
• Create simulations that an AI system can probe through a limited number of calls before submitting a final design.
• Support automated evaluation by enabling an agentic grader to run the simulation and score specification compliance.

Qualifications

• Deep applied expertise in control systems, analog or RF circuits, power electronics, or mechanical design.
• PhD or an equivalent industry track record.
• Ability to write simulations in Python and express acceptance criteria as quantitative, testable thresholds.
• Ability to design challenging problems that you cannot easily shortcut yourself while still being able to evaluate them rigorously.
• Comfort working in a browser-based studio and GitHub.
• Prior model-evaluation experience is not required.

Work Terms

• Remote, hourly engagement.
• Daily onboarding calls and internal tools are available to help contributors get started and work efficiently.

Compensation

• $60 to $90 per hour.
