About this role

Role Overview

Demand planners apply forecasting, inventory planning, and freight management expertise to evaluate AI-generated retail supply chain outputs, produce expert training data, and provide corrective feedback that improves AI accuracy. This is part-time, hourly contract work that is project based and fully remote, and it can be performed alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral roles, or industry employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use hands-on experience with demand forecasting, in-season reforecast, inventory planning, and freight management to assess AI-generated responses for accuracy and relevance.
  • Create expert-level training data grounded in the tools and workflows you use in daily retail supply chain work.
  • Audit and evaluate freight invoices and related documentation as part of model evaluation tasks.
  • Provide clear, actionable written feedback to AI research teams, documenting where outputs match real-world practices and where they diverge.
  • Work independently and asynchronously to complete evaluation tasks and meet project requirements.
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in retail demand planning or supply chain management, in roles such as Demand Planner or Supply Chain Manager, or equivalent retail industry positions.
  • Practical, hands-on knowledge of demand forecasting and in-season reforecast processes, inventory planning practices, and freight invoice auditing.
  • Strong written communication skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on asynchronous, distributed projects.
  • No prior AI experience required.
Work Terms
  • Employment type: Part time, independent contractor, hourly.
  • Fully remote, with a flexible, asynchronous schedule and no minimum hour requirement.
  • Typical active-project commitment is approximately 5-20 hours per week for contributors who participate in a project.
  • Ongoing, project-based engagement. Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs, with opportunities to be considered for future projects as they become available.
Compensation
  • Up to $80/hr (depending on the project).
Eligibility
  • F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate. Work with your Designated School Official to confirm whether these projects meet your school and visa requirements.
  • If your school requires a CPT course enrollment, these projects may not satisfy that requirement. STEM OPT is not supported.
Application Process
  • Create a profile on the project platform and submit the requested information.
  • Complete identity verification as required.
  • Express interest in or apply to relevant projects and complete any project-specific onboarding steps.
  • Begin assigned evaluation tasks and submit work to earn compensation.
