About this role

Role Overview

Demand planners apply retail forecasting and supply chain expertise to evaluate AI-generated outputs and produce expert training data. You will use hands-on experience with demand forecasting, inventory planning, and freight management to judge accuracy and relevance of model responses and provide targeted feedback that improves AI understanding of retail supply chain workflows. This is an hourly contract, part-time engagement that can be done alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or industry employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review AI-generated responses related to retail demand planning and supply chain scenarios.
  • Use practical knowledge of demand forecasting, in-season reforecasting, inventory planning, and freight management to assess correctness and applicability.
  • Provide clear, detailed feedback and annotations to help refine model outputs.
  • Create expert-level examples and training data based on tools and processes you use in daily work.
  • Work independently and communicate findings to distributed AI research teams in writing.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience in retail demand planning or supply chain management, in roles such as Demand Planner or Supply Chain Manager, or equivalent retail industry positions.
  • Hands-on experience with demand planning workflows, including demand forecasting and in-season reforecast processes.
  • Experience auditing freight invoices and familiarity with freight management practices.
  • Strong written communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work asynchronously and independently.
  • No prior AI or machine learning experience required.
Work Terms
  • Engagement type: hourly contract, part time.
  • Location: fully remote, work asynchronously.
  • Schedule: flexible with no minimum weekly hour requirement; when active on a project most contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week.
  • This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity. Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs, and contributors may be considered for future projects as they become available.
Compensation
  • Up to $80/hr (depending on the project).
  • Paid on an hourly contract basis.
Eligibility
  • F-1 students may be eligible if they have appropriate CPT or OPT authorization. Work with your Designated School Official to confirm eligibility.
  • If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, this program may not meet that requirement.
  • STEM OPT is not supported for this engagement.
