About this role

Role Overview

Help evaluate how frontier AI models handle chemical safety and misuse-risk questions. This writing-intensive role focuses on distinguishing legitimate professional requests from dual-use or dangerous requests, so models can provide appropriate assistance while refusing harmful guidance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create challenging, single-turn chemical defense prompts categorized as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.
  • Evaluate model responses against an established policy standard and determine whether each response was handled correctly.
  • Write reference answers that show the appropriate response and explain the underlying technical reasoning.
  • Document each judgment with clear rationale that non-specialists can understand.
Qualifications

Relevant experience includes defensive chemical-threat work in an institutional setting, including countermeasures, protection, detection, or verification. Strong candidates can assess the intent behind requests that may involve the same agent properties used in treatment protocols and threat assessments.

  • Chemical defense research with USAMRICD, the DoD, CDC, or an allied national institute.
  • Toxicology of chemical warfare agents or medical countermeasure development.
  • Research in chemical-threat decontamination, protection, or detection.
  • CWC-related verification, destruction, or designated laboratory analysis.
  • Consequence assessment or medical management of chemical exposure.
  • Red-teaming experience is preferred.
  • Prior technical writing, published research, or expert-witness experience is strongly valued. Include a writing sample or link with your application.
Work Terms

This is remote, per-task work. The role involves sustained reading and writing about misuse scenarios in chemical defense. You will be briefed in advance and may pause or step away at any time without penalty.

Compensation

Compensation is $65 to $75 per task.

Eligibility

Work must not involve or draw on classified information, export-controlled information, material covered by an NDA, or information subject to prepublication review. Candidates with such obligations may still apply, provided they disclose them so the work can be scoped appropriately.

What to prepare before applying

  1. Experience working on chemical threats from the defensive side in an institutional setting.
  2. Ability to distinguish routine professional chemical-threat questions from requests seeking harmful misuse information.
  3. Strong written communication skills, including explaining technical judgments to non-specialists.
  4. Must not draw on classified, export-controlled, NDA-covered, or prepublication-review information.

These are the confirmed hard requirements. The Apply button routes you to the partner platform where you complete the application.
