About this role

Role Overview

Category managers apply retail category planning, pricing, and promotional expertise to evaluate AI-generated responses and produce expert training data. This is project-based, flexible, hourly contract work that can be performed alongside other professional or academic commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate AI-generated content for factual accuracy, relevance, and alignment with category management workflows.
  • Create expert-level training examples and annotations based on hands-on use of retail tools and processes.
  • Provide written feedback and corrections focused on pricing strategy, markdown planning, competitive analysis, and promotional planning.
  • Leverage your daily workflows and tools to surface realistic scenarios, edge cases, and common decision criteria.
  • Work independently and deliver clear, detailed assessments in an asynchronous review process. No prior AI experience required.
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in retail category management, buying, or an equivalent retail role.
  • Practical, hands-on experience with category management workflows, including tariff pricing and competitive pricing analysis, markdown optimization and hindsight analysis, and promotional campaign planning.

  • Comfort working independently on asynchronous tasks with cross-functional research teams.
Work Terms
  • Location: Remote.
  • Employment type: PART_TIME, hourly contract work.
  • Schedule: Flexible, asynchronous, no minimum hour requirement; when active on a project, most contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week.
