About this role

Role Overview

Develop advanced CNC toolpaths and practical CAM guidance for a client project that helps train next-generation AI systems. This remote contract role draws on real-world CAM programming expertise to produce precise, high-quality machining outputs and instructional materials. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create precision Autodesk Fusion 360 CAM toolpaths for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining operations.
  • Program complex milling and turning geometries in metals and plastics, accounting for material properties, tolerances, and machine capabilities.
  • Simulate and validate toolpaths, resolving collisions, gouging risks, and inefficient cycle times.
  • Configure, refine, and document post-processors for CNC equipment, including Haas and Makera machines.
  • Prepare detailed setup sheets, tool lists, and machining-strategy documentation for downstream manufacturing teams.
  • Create clear walkthroughs, written guidance, and instructional content on CAM techniques and best practices.
  • Use first-part results and inspection reports to improve and refine CAM outputs.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of hands-on CAM programming experience, including strong Autodesk Fusion 360 CAM proficiency.
  • Demonstrated multi-axis programming, toolpath strategy, simulation, and attention to detail.
  • A portfolio or work samples showing multi-axis programming and toolpath-strategy expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, DFM principles, and post-processor configuration.
  • Experience programming advanced CNC environments and working with aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and plastics.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • CAM training-content experience, such as courses, tutorials, mentoring, or online instructional materials, is preferred.

Work Terms

  • Remote, independent contractor engagement.

Compensation

  • $80 to $120 per hour.
