Role Overview
Apply South Florida building code expertise to review construction and permit submissions while helping develop high-quality AI training data for construction code compliance. This client-facing contractor role focuses on plans from Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and other South Florida jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Review architectural, structural, construction, and permit documents against the Florida Building Code and applicable jurisdictional standards.
- Identify code compliance issues, risks, missing requirements, and permit concerns before projects advance.
- Document findings with precise references to relevant regulations and standards.
- Determine whether plans meet local permitting requirements for South Florida municipalities.
- Explain technical requirements, code interpretations, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute subject matter expertise and insights used to train AI models in construction code compliance.
- Collaborate with project leads and technical teams to maintain accurate, high-quality deliverables.
Qualifications
- Experience with building code plan review, building code compliance, permit plan review, construction document review, and risk identification.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating permit plans for Florida jurisdictions.
- Ability to communicate code interpretations and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation quality.
- A B.S. in Civil Engineering or Architecture is preferred.
- An active Florida Standard Plans Examiner License, Building Code Administrator License, Provisional Plans Examiner License, Architect license, Professional Engineer license, or General Contractor license is preferred.
- Experience with code-compliance projects in Palm Beach, Broward, or Miami-Dade counties is highly valued.
Work Terms
- Independent contractor engagement.
- Remote role for candidates based in Florida.
Compensation
- $80 to $120 per hour.
