Sociology Professor for AI Model Evaluation

Sociology Professors apply their teaching, research, and advising expertise to hourly, temporary AI research projects by evaluating model outputs, assessing field-specific content, and providing clear, structured feedback that improves a model''s understanding of sociology work and language.

• Review AI-generated content related to sociology and judge accuracy, relevance, tone, and usefulness for real-world tasks.
• Develop and refine prompts that reflect typical sociology tasks, scenarios, and terminology.
• Provide detailed, structured feedback that explains errors, suggests improvements, and identifies edge cases or sensitive content.
• Work asynchronously with remote project teams and AI research partners to complete evaluation tasks on schedule.

• Minimum 4 years of professional experience in one or more sociology-related roles.
• Relevant experience may include any of the following types of responsibilities:
• Preparing and delivering lectures on sociology topics, evaluating and grading student work, and facilitating classroom discussions.
• Conducting research and publishing findings, while staying current on developments in the field.
• Advising students on academic and career paths, supervising student research, and participating in departmental or community activities.
• Comfort with asynchronous work and collaboration with AI research teams.

• Engagement type: hourly, temporary, part-time contributor.
• Location: remote, asynchronous work from any location where you are authorized to work.
• Hours: flexible, no minimum commitment required, most engagements average 5 to 20 hours per week.
• Typical tasks include prompt development and evaluation of model responses, completed independently on a schedule agreed with the project.
• Placement into specific projects depends on availability; projects run year-round and new opportunities open periodically, so applying now may lead to placement in a later project if immediate matches are not available.

• Pay: Up to $90/hr (depending on the project)

• You must be authorized to work on the tasks in the location you will perform them.
• F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate, subject to your school and Designated School Official guidance. If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, these projects may not meet that requirement. STEM OPT is not supported.
