About this role

Role Overview

Well Cost Analysts apply their drilling, completions, and well planning expertise to evaluate AI-generated content and produce expert-level training data that improves AI understanding of drilling workflows and energy operations. This remote, hourly contract work draws on hands-on experience with drilling operations, well planning, and energy data systems and is organized on a project-by-project basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review AI-generated responses for technical accuracy, completeness, and relevance to drilling and well cost workflows
  • Create and annotate expert-level training data that reflects real-world drilling and completions practices
  • Provide detailed, practical feedback and corrections to help refine AI outputs
  • Follow project-specific instructions and quality guidelines while working asynchronously with AI research teams
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in drilling, completions, or related energy operations
  • Relevant roles include Drilling Engineer, Completions Engineer, Well Cost Analyst, Drilling Superintendent, or equivalent positions in the energy industry
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of these tools: WellView, SAP, ComboCurve, AVEVA PI
  • Strong written communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously
  • No prior AI experience required
Work Terms
  • Engagement type: hourly contract, part-time
  • Fully remote with a flexible, asynchronous schedule
  • No minimum weekly hours required; most contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week when active on a project
Compensation
  • Up to $85/hr (depending on the project)
Project Availability

Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs. Candidates who qualify may be considered for future projects as new needs arise.
