Utility Technician for AI Model Evaluation

Utility technicians apply hands-on field experience with metering, distribution, and substation systems to evaluate AI-generated content and produce expert-level training data. In this contract role you will use your practical knowledge of tools, workflows, and common field scenarios to judge the accuracy and relevance of AI responses and provide corrections and context that improve model behavior.

• Review AI-generated answers, scenarios, and instructions related to utility field work for technical accuracy and real-world applicability.
• Provide detailed feedback, corrections, and examples based on your daily work with meters, distribution systems, outage response, or substation operations.
• Create or validate training examples that reflect standard procedures, safety practices, and common troubleshooting steps.
• Document observations and rationale in clear written form so reviewers and engineers can act on your feedback.

• Minimum 4 years of professional experience in utility field operations, metering, or infrastructure maintenance.
• Relevant roles include Meter Technician, Utility Technician, Field Service Technician, Distribution Technician, Substation Technician, or Line Technician.
• Hands-on experience with one or more workflows such as meter installation and testing, distribution system maintenance, outage response, or substation operations.
• Familiarity with utility software and systems such as AMI platforms, SCADA, Oracle MDM, IBM Maximo, or ArcGIS is preferred.
• Strong written communication, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment.
• No prior AI experience required.

• Part-time, hourly contract work performed fully remotely with a flexible, asynchronous schedule.
• No minimum hour requirement; contributors typically work about 5 to 20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
• Ongoing, project-based engagement you can take on alongside other commitments.
• Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs; qualifying contributors may be considered for future projects as they become available.

Up to $85/hr (depending on the project).

• This role is structured as independent contractor work paid on an hourly basis.
