Theater and Voice Acting Expert for AI Research

Theater and vocal arts professionals apply their performance and vocal expertise to create, refine, and evaluate voice and acting content used to train and test advanced language and speech models. This role contributes domain knowledge to AI research projects, producing and assessing prompts, recordings, and model outputs in collaboration with research teams. The program runs year-round, with project availability varying by discipline.

• Develop domain-specific prompts and scenarios that test acting and vocal performance capabilities of AI models.
• Record voice and performance samples in a quiet environment to specified technical standards.
• Evaluate and rate model responses, transcriptions, and generated performances for accuracy, naturalness, and theatrical appropriateness.
• Research topics relevant to your specialty, using AI tools as an aid, and incorporate findings into task design and evaluation.
• Work primarily asynchronously with researchers and other experts, participating in small, project-specific cohorts when selected.
• Accept that placement into particular projects depends on project availability and the research needs of each cohort.

• Practical experience in theater and voice acting, any education level is welcome.
• Confidence that your expertise can outperform current AI systems in interpreting and performing within your field.
• Willingness to learn new skills while contributing to AI research across related disciplines.
• Ability to participate in primarily asynchronous work alongside research teams.
• Selection for each project is limited to a small cohort chosen for disciplinary and research expertise, so applicants should demonstrate relevant, demonstrable experience.

• Audio recording hardware and software are required. A 24 Hz or 48 Hz microphone, used in a quiet recording environment, is generally sufficient.

• Remote, asynchronous engagement.
• Part-time, flexible hours with no minimum weekly commitment.
• Project placement and timing vary by discipline and by research demand.

• Up to $50/hr (depending on the project)

• F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate. Confirm eligibility with your Designated School Official. If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, this program may not meet your school’s CPT requirements.
• STEM OPT is not supported for this program.

• Create a profile on the program portal and submit the required information.
• Complete identity verification as part of onboarding.
• Apply to or join relevant projects and complete any project-specific onboarding steps.
• Begin assigned tasks and receive compensation according to the project terms.
