About this role

Role Overview

Audio engineers apply audio production and technical tooling expertise to evaluate and improve AI systems that interact with audio workflows and outputs. In this role you will use tools like Audacity, Ardour, and Linux Multi-Media Studio to create, edit, and assess audio materials and to help AI better understand real-world professional audio tasks. The program runs year-round and project opportunities open periodically; placement into specific projects depends on availability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use professional audio tools and techniques to produce, edit, and prepare audio assets for AI evaluation.
  • Develop domain-specific prompts and test cases that exercise audio-related model behavior.
  • Evaluate model outputs and LLM responses for accuracy, relevance, and fidelity to professional audio workflows.
  • Document findings and provide detailed feedback to AI research teams while working asynchronously.
Qualifications
  • At least 3+ years of professional experience using one or more of the following tools: Audacity, Ardour, Linux Multi-Media Studio, or other related technical audio tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work asynchronously with distributed research or engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with audio production, editing, or technical audio workflows relevant to model evaluation.
Work Terms
  • Location: Remote, asynchronous work from any location.
  • Employment type: Part-time.
  • Flexible hours, with no minimum weekly hour commitment required.
  • Project placement is dependent on project availability; opportunities open periodically across different areas of expertise.
Compensation

Up to $125/hr (depending on the project)

Eligibility
  • F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate. Consult your Designated School Official to confirm eligibility and any school-specific CPT requirements, because if your school requires a CPT course this program may not satisfy that requirement.
  • STEM OPT is not supported.
  • Refer to the program help documentation for additional details on supported work authorizations.
