Role Overview
Solar Design Engineers apply hands-on solar design, construction planning, and energy project estimation expertise to evaluate AI-generated content, create expert-level training data, and provide feedback that improves AI understanding of project development workflows and cost estimation.
Key Responsibilities- Use professional experience in energy project estimation, pre-construction, and solar design to review AI-generated responses for technical accuracy and relevance.
- Provide detailed feedback and corrections so AI models better reflect real-world project workflows, construction planning, and cost-estimating practices.
- Create and validate expert-level training examples based on the tools and methods used in everyday work.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in energy project estimation, pre-construction, or solar design, in roles such as Estimator, Project Engineer, Pre-construction Manager, Solar Design Engineer, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: Bluebeam Revu, RSMeans, Aurora Solar.
- Strong written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with research teams.
- No prior AI or machine learning experience required.
- Engagement type: part-time, hourly contract work, performed remotely.
- Schedule: fully remote, flexible and asynchronous, no minimum hour requirement.
- Typical commitment when active on a project: approximately 5 to 20 hours per week.
- Independent contractor arrangement, paid on an hourly basis.
Up to $85/hr (depending on the project)
Eligibility and Project Availability- Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs; contributors may be considered for additional projects as they become available.

- Select and onboard to projects that match your skills and availability.
- Begin assignments, submit work as required, and bill for hours according to the contract terms.
