Role Overview
Help improve robotic intelligence by performing precise, real-world manipulation tasks that provide training data for next-generation AI systems. This onsite contract role takes place in a San Francisco lab and does not require prior robotics or AI experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a handheld UMI gripper to complete repetitive tasks such as picking up objects, opening containers, and performing simple household actions across varied objects and environments.
- Follow detailed written instructions and collection protocols exactly to support consistent, reliable data capture.
- Reset physical environments between attempts and review each submission for quality before moving to the next task.
- Identify and report hardware issues, unclear instructions, compromised recordings, and other irregularities to the project lead.
- Maintain accuracy and consistency during extended hands-on work requiring sustained focus and physical stamina.
- Document observations, communicate issues verbally and in writing, and suggest process improvements.
- Work with project coordinators and other contributors to keep data collection aligned with project protocols.
Qualifications
- Fine motor control, dexterity, and precision when handling objects.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow complex, step-by-step directions without deviation.
- Comfort with repetitive physical work and the stamina to remain focused for extended participation periods.
- Reliability, punctuality, and personal accountability.
- Ability to learn basic hardware interfaces quickly and troubleshoot minor technical issues.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for interpreting instructions, reporting issues, and sharing observations.
- Experience in hands-on settings such as warehouse work, operations, gaming, gig work, or student projects is valued.
Work Terms
- Independent contractor engagement.
- Onsite work in San Francisco.
Compensation
$10 to $20 per hour.
