About this role

Role Overview

Renewable energy engineers apply their expertise in microgrid design, renewable energy modeling, and asset performance analysis to evaluate AI-generated technical content and produce expert training data. This is part-time, hourly contract work done remotely and on a project-by-project basis, allowing you to contribute alongside other professional commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate AI-generated responses for technical accuracy, relevance, and real-world applicability in renewable energy and microgrid workflows
  • Use hands-on experience with modeling and design tools to create and annotate expert-level training examples
  • Provide clear, detailed feedback and corrections that help improve AI understanding of engineering practices
  • Document edge cases, assumptions, and typical workflows so outputs reflect practical industry use
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in renewable energy engineering, microgrid design, or asset performance in roles such as Microgrid Engineer, Renewable Energy Engineer, Solar Engineer, Renewable Energy Modeler, Digital Twin Engineer, Asset Performance Manager, or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: HOMER Pro, SAM, GE Digital Twin
  • Strong written communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with research teams
  • No prior AI experience required
Work Terms

Part-time, fully remote, hourly contract work with a flexible, asynchronous schedule and no minimum hour requirement. Most contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week when participating in an active project. Placement on projects depends on current project needs, and contributors may be considered for additional or future projects as they become available.

Compensation

Up to $80/hr (depending on the project)
