Energy Project Engineer for AI Evaluation

Project Engineers apply hands-on energy project estimation, construction planning, and solar design experience to evaluate AI-generated content and produce expert training data that improves AI understanding of project development workflows and cost estimation practices. This is a flexible, project-based, hourly contract role you can perform remotely alongside other work.

• Review AI-generated responses related to energy project estimation, pre-construction planning, and solar design for technical accuracy and relevance.
• Create expert-level training examples based on real-world project workflows, cost assumptions, and construction planning practices.
• Provide clear, detailed feedback to help refine AI outputs, including corrections, annotations, and rationale grounded in professional practice.
• Use your knowledge of the tools and processes you rely on day to day to validate AI suggestions and flag unrealistic or unsafe recommendations.

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in energy project estimation, pre-construction, or solar design.
• Relevant roles include Estimator, Project Engineer, Pre-construction Manager, Solar Design Engineer, or equivalent positions in the energy industry.
• Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: Bluebeam Revu, RSMeans, Aurora Solar.
• Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with research teams.
• No prior AI or machine learning experience required.

• Engagement type: hourly contract, independent contractor style, part-time.
• Location: fully remote.
• Schedule: flexible, asynchronous, no minimum hour requirement; most contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
• Placement and assignment to specific projects depend on current project needs; contributors may be considered for future projects as they become available.

Up to $85/hr (depending on the project)

• Project assignment is contingent on project demand, your background, and successful completion of onboarding for those projects.
