Process Safety Engineer for AI Evaluation

Process Safety Engineers apply hands-on expertise in environmental health and safety, process safety, and energy regulatory compliance to evaluate AI-generated content and create expert-level training data that improves AI understanding of EHS workflows and compliance practices. This is a flexible, hourly contract role, suited to professionals who want to contribute alongside other commitments. No prior AI experience is required.

• Review and evaluate AI-generated responses for technical accuracy, relevance, and alignment with real-world EHS and process safety practices.
• Create and annotate expert training data based on hands-on knowledge of EHS workflows, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide detailed, actionable feedback that helps refine AI understanding of environmental health and safety, process safety, and energy compliance scenarios.
• Document examples and edge cases from your daily work to improve AI performance on domain-specific tasks.
• Work independently and communicate asynchronously with AI research teams to clarify issues and confirm corrections.

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in environmental health and safety, process safety, or energy regulatory compliance.
• Relevant roles include, but are not limited to, EHS Specialist, Process Safety Engineer, NERC CIP Analyst, Pipeline Integrity Engineer, or equivalent positions in the energy industry.
• Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: VelocityEHS, ServiceNow, Synergi Pipeline.
• Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in an asynchronous, remote context.
• No prior AI or machine learning experience required.

• Location: Fully remote.
• Employment type: Part time, hourly contract engagements.
• Schedule: Flexible, asynchronous work with no minimum hour requirement. Contributors typically work about 5 to 20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
• Engagement model: Ongoing, project-based participation that can be performed alongside other professional commitments.
• Project availability: Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs. Contributors may be considered for future projects as they become available.

Up to $85/hr (depending on the project)
