Process Engineer for AI Model Evaluation

Process engineers apply hands-on process and refinery engineering expertise to evaluate AI-generated content and produce expert analytical outputs that improve AI understanding of real-world process engineering practices. This is a part-time, hourly contract role that supports AI research through structured, project-based tasks and can be performed alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or industry employment.

• Review and evaluate AI-generated technical content for accuracy and real-world applicability in process and refinery engineering.
• Provide detailed, discipline-specific feedback to help refine AI outputs against professional practice and standards.
• Independently produce expert-level analytical work and data outputs using the tools, methods, and workflows you use in professional practice.
• Complete real work tasks in a project format, for example building price forecast models or developing power purchase agreement documentation, as specified by each project.

• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in process or refinery engineering in roles such as Process Engineer, Refinery Engineer, Process Simulation Engineer, Refinery Planning Engineer, LP Modeler, Refinery Optimization Engineer, or equivalent positions in the energy or chemical industry.
• Bachelor''s degree or higher required.
• Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: Aspen, Haverly GRTMPS, SuperPro Designer, AVEVA PI.
• Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously.

• Engagement type: hourly contract, part-time.
• Location: fully remote, work asynchronously.
• Schedule: flexible, no minimum hour requirement; most contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week while participating in an active project.
• Placement depends on current project needs. Selection for one project does not guarantee immediate placement on others, but contributors may be considered for future projects as they become available.
• Work can be combined with other professional or academic commitments, provided availability for project tasks.

Up to $80/hr (depending on the project)

• F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may qualify to participate, subject to your school’s rules. Confirm eligibility with your Designated School Official before applying.
• If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course or other specific course-based authorization, this arrangement may not meet that requirement.
• STEM OPT is not supported for this work.
