About this role

Role Overview

Pre-construction Managers apply energy project estimation, construction planning, and solar design expertise to evaluate AI-generated content and produce expert-level training data that improves AI understanding of project development workflows and cost estimation practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use hands-on experience in energy project estimation, pre-construction planning, and solar system design to assess AI-produced responses for technical accuracy and real-world relevance.
  • Provide detailed, task-level feedback that helps refine AI outputs and creates high-quality training data.
  • Work with common industry tools and documentation to validate assumptions, cost inputs, scope definitions, and construction sequencing in AI examples.
  • Communicate findings clearly in writing to research teams, highlighting errors, edge cases, and improvements.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in energy project estimation, pre-construction, or solar design.
  • Relevant roles include Estimator, Project Engineer, Pre-construction Manager, Solar Design Engineer, or equivalent positions in the energy industry.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: Bluebeam Revu, RSMeans, Aurora Solar.
  • Strong written communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with AI research teams.
  • No prior AI experience required.
Work Terms
  • Location: Remote.
  • Employment type: PART_TIME, hourly contract work.
  • Schedule: fully remote, flexible and asynchronous, no minimum hour requirement.
  • Typical commitment when engaged in an active project is approximately 5 to 20 hours per week.
  • This is an ongoing, project-based engagement you can take on alongside other work; placement on specific projects depends on current project needs, with consideration for future opportunities as they arise.
Compensation

Paid hourly, up to $85/hr (depending on the project).
