About this role

Role Overview

Power systems engineers apply hands-on expertise in power systems analysis, transmission and distribution planning, and industrial control systems to evaluate AI-generated content and produce expert-level training data. This contract role supports AI research by assessing technical accuracy and real-world relevance of model outputs. It is an ongoing, project-based, part-time engagement you can combine with other work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review AI-generated responses for correctness, completeness, and applicability to power systems workflows and engineering practices.
  • Create and annotate expert-level training examples based on real-world experience with power system analysis, grid planning, and controls.
  • Provide clear, actionable written feedback to improve model behavior and documentation of engineering decisions.
  • Complete review and annotation tasks independently on an asynchronous schedule while coordinating with AI research teams as needed.
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in power systems engineering, transmission and distribution planning, or industrial controls.
  • Relevant job titles include Distribution or Transmission Planning Engineer, Power Systems Engineer, Reliability Engineer, SCADA Engineer, Control Systems Engineer, Automation Engineer, or equivalent roles in the energy industry.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: CYME, PSS/E, ETAP, WinCC.
  • Strong written communication skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously.
Work Terms
  • Engagement type: hourly contract, part-time, independent-contractor style work.
  • Location: fully remote.
  • Schedule: flexible and asynchronous, with no minimum hour requirement.
  • Typical participation when active on a project: approximately 5, 20 hours per week.
  • Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs; contributors may be considered for future projects as they become available.
Compensation

Up to $80/hr (depending on the project)
