Role Overview
Plant Performance Engineers apply hands-on industrial operations and performance engineering experience to evaluate AI-generated content and create expert training data that improves how AI systems understand operations workflows and asset performance.
Key Responsibilities- Use your professional experience with plant operations, reliability, and energy asset management to assess AI-generated responses for technical accuracy and relevance.
- Create expert-level training examples and annotations based on real-world workflows, procedures, and performance data.
- Provide clear, actionable feedback to help AI better capture operational practices and performance engineering decision making.
- Work asynchronously with AI research teams, documenting findings and corrections in written form.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in industrial operations, plant performance, or energy asset management.
- Relevant roles include, but are not limited to, Plant Performance Engineer, Reliability Engineer, SCADA Engineer, Drilling or Production Engineer, Generation Asset Analyst, or equivalent energy industry positions.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of these tools: AVEVA PI, WinCC, Oracle MDM, Power BI, Bloomberg Terminal.
- Strong written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with remote research teams.
- No prior AI or machine learning experience required, only domain expertise and practical systems knowledge.
- Engagement type: hourly contract work, not a traditional full time employment role.
- Schedule: fully remote, flexible and asynchronous, with no minimum hours required.
- Typical participation: when active on a project, most contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week.
- Placement on projects is driven by current needs, and contributors may be considered for future projects as they become available.
- Pay rate: Up to $85/hr (depending on the project)
