About this role

Role Overview

Use Level 3 networking expertise to label, annotate, and structure real production network data so downstream machine learning models can learn to operate and reason about infrastructure. This hands-on role combines final-escalation troubleshooting, packet analysis, and RCA experience with practical work defining schemas and data formats for large-scale network telemetry pipelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine real-world network artifacts, including logs, device configurations, telemetry streams, event streams, and packet captures.
  • Label and classify network behaviors, issues, anomalies, and incident patterns to create high-quality, machine-readable training data.
  • Perform packet analysis and apply root-cause analysis workflows to accurately characterize incidents and failure modes.
  • Help define schemas, metadata conventions, and data structures for large-scale pipelines that will feed downstream ML models.
  • Collaborate directly with the client team to align labeling, definitions, and schema decisions with engineering and data needs.
Qualifications
  • Must have current experience as a Level 3, Tier 3, or Principal Support Engineer responsible for keeping enterprise infrastructure online and stable, including on-call rotation, RCAs, final escalations, and troubleshooting outages.
  • Must have hands-on experience with end-customer enterprise networks, including working with switches, access points, and firewalls in environments such as retail, healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, universities, or hospitality.
  • Must have practical Wi-Fi and wireless knowledge, including enterprise WLAN controllers such as Cisco WLC, Aruba, or Meraki, 802.1X and RADIUS configuration, and wireless troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience with packet capture and analysis tools, and with incident classification or tagging workflows.
  • Intellectual curiosity about how raw infrastructure data is transformed into inputs for machine learning models, and a desire to influence the future of autonomous networking systems.
Work Terms
  • Location: Remote.
  • Engagement: Hourly, hands-on role working directly with the client team.
  • Time commitment: Expected to work 30 to 40 hours per week.
Compensation
  • Pay rate: $50.00 to $70.00 per hour.
Eligibility
  • Candidates should be actively working in the required Level 3/Tier 3 support role and have the hands-on enterprise networking experience described above.
